Four Wise Breakfast Tips
Mornings can sometimes be the busiest part of your day. From getting yourself (and others) ready to prepare for the rest of your workday and after, the A.M. can be stressful. Because of this, so many of us simply grab a sugar-packed granola bar and we’re out the door while others completely skip the meal. But one of the key components to having a successful day and feeling good is breakfast. It’s been said that what you eat for breakfast can determine how your day will go and how your body will feel throughout the day -- and we thoroughly believe in this statement.
Here are four tips on how to start feeling better through your breakfast:
1. Begin a new habit.
If you’re not already in the routine of eating breakfast, now would be a good time to start especially with the New Year in full swing. Incorporate healthy, whole foods into your breakfast, like fruit, yogurt, or a hard-boiled egg. If you find that you aren’t hungry first thing in the morning, eat a small amount of food first thing the morning and then later add a balanced, healthy mid-morning snack.
2. Meal prep breakfast.
Mornings can be overwhelming. To prevent meal skipping, prepare what you’ll be having for breakfast throughout the week. Healthy muffins, overnight oats, and premade pancake mix are some options on how to make breakfast time go smoothly during those busy mornings. Check out our recipes for some ideas.
3. Up the breakfast game.
Breakfast doesn’t have to be boring. There are tons of healthy, flavor-packed recipes out there that will make you excited to wake up for breakfast. Eggs and sausage are a thing of the past, try mixing up last night’s dinner into a breakfast meal. It’ll save you time and food waste!
4. Gradually work toward the new habit.
Don’t beat yourself up if you slip back into old choices. If you aren’t familiar with eating breakfast, make this change gradually to avoid overwhelm. Add a healthy breakfast on two mornings at first, then increase to three mornings a little later once you start building this into your routine. Eventually, you can make it a goal to eat a healthy, balanced breakfast every day.
